Athens mayoral candidate Glenn Stegall is taking an approach to public service that seems to be a lost art in recent political history: listening to the people. Stegall has asked voters to send him their own ideas for how to make Athens a better place to live, learn, and grow. The initiative, called “100 Ideas to Improve Athens,” will be a constructive and cooperative conversation with the citizens of Athens-Clarke County to create a list of 100 suggestions that will positively impact the daily lives of everyday people in the community without straining the city budget. Stegall has pledged to implement all 100 ideas within his first year in office.
Stegall stressed the importance of considering the goals and needs of Athens citizens: “I’m running for mayor because I care about what the people of Athens think. I want people to tell me what their vision is for Athens, and I want to help make their vision a reality.”
